Livity is out in full force at this year’s ASR Tradeshow at the San Diego Convention Center. We posted up in the ASEC (Action Sports Environmental Coalition) Green Room, part of the floor sectioned off to promote companies and organizations in the action sports industry devoted to sustainable, environmentally and socially-sound products and business practices.

Livity’s new look and suave Spring 2010 designs are getting great responses from retailers looking to cross over into the eco-fashion market.

Issac spent part of Friday afternoon in a panel titled, “Eco-Nomics, Turning Green into $Green$.” Hosted by ASEC founder and Executive Director Frank Scura, the panel discussed the immediate need for the action sports industry to come together in “co-opetition” to bring eco-fabric suppliers and manufactuers down in price AND encourage retailers to pioneer their own GreenRoom store sections – a place where consumers can find the latest and greatest in eco-surf/skate/snow gear.

So far, two Green Rooms have been open in Hobie Surf Shops in Laguna Beach and San Clemente. Both have received tremendous positive response from consumers and store-owners! Livity products are sold in both stores, so be sure to support and lobby for a Green Room in your local shop.

More updates to come!

“This event will be a great way for us to connect with our neighbors and our customers,” said Isaac Nichelson, founder and visionary of Livity Outernational. “We want to spread the Livity vibe and show people that clothing from hemp, recycled plastic bottles and organic cotton is environmentally responsible and fashionable.” One of L.A.’s hottest DJs, DJ Race Banner, will be spinning live at the outdoor setup,

Livity Votes Hemp…and You Should Too!

Watch this video to learn more about the benefits of this super plant and why the US should legalize the farming, harvesting and milling of industrial hemp. It would boost our economy and our environment!

Unfortunately, hemp is illegal to grow in the US, even though industrial hemp is drastically different from the plant that gets you high. Livity is pushing the legalization of industrial hemp in the US, hoping to benefit from this super plant domestically. But for now, we get our hemp from family farms in Northeast China. Those families contribute to a government-run co-op that collects and pays for fiber stock. Then our hemp goes to one of the world’s best hemp mills, also in Northeastern China, in a region that has been cultivating and processing hemp for textile use for thousands of years. Our mill is checked and approved several times every year by third party agencies for the highest standard of labor conditions and environmental processes. It’s an important goal of ours to ensure our sourcing is benefitting the local economy without harming the local environment.

What are the benefits of industrial hemp?
· Hemp has been used to make everything from rope to clothing, to paper since 770 AD.
· Hemp only uses 1/20th the amount of water to grow and process as regular cotton.
· Plus, hemp doesn’t need pesticides or fertilizers. It’s naturally less vulnerable to insects and pushes out other weeds.
· Hemp filters UV light, so your skin is protected by cancerous rays.
· It resists bacterial growth, meaning you smell better!
· Hemp has four times the strength of cotton, yet the fabric becomes softer with use.
· Its fabric is breatheable – keeping you cool in the summer and warmer in cooler weather.
· Hemp also absorbs moisture quickly, keeping your body dry.

The Worlds first New Wave DUB Sound Clash, went down during the ASR agenda San Diego HYPE FEST, heavily attending by industry Celebs and unknown smugglers. Big Thanks to Julian from the Bondi Bar, for hosting a truly progressive evening of eclectic sounds and visions. The World Premiere sneak preview of “My Own Two Feet” kicked off the night. Which was Sick!!! Followed by Livity Pro Skate Lion Bennet Harada aka DJ Samu Rasta, representing for the Livity sound system with some classic rockers selections. Chief Selector of the Livity Sound station, Ambassador Junior kept it flowing spinning contemporary culture cuts sprinkled heavily with classic Dance Hall.  Finally the sonic ninjas VOICE IN BLACK, widely regarded as LA’s heaviest heavy metal band, Fired up the Bondi! This power Trio consists of  Kenji on lead Axe, known as the Japanese Jimmy Hendrix whos fingertip finess on the neck of his guitar is only matched by the prowess of his culinary technique behind the bar of some of LA’s finest sushi establishments. Satoshi wailing on Drums, holds down the pulsing rhythm of the band in combination with Livity’s own Manabu “Special Skin” Morikawa/Yamizaki on Bass and Lead Vocals. Seriously these guys play stuff that’s on par with classic Zeplin/Sabbath, they are a must see/hear the next time they visit your local dive bar.

Special thanks to Julian, the whole Bondi crew, and everyone who showed up to this conscious carousing.
